Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Payanchor is committed to protecting your personal information in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and applicable South African laws.

What We Collect

We collect: identity information (name, ID number, tax number, passport number); contact details (email, phone, address); financial information (income, deductions, bank details); uploaded documents (IRP5s, invoices, statements, certificates); and usage data (login timestamps, actions performed).

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to: prepare and submit your tax return to SARS; pre-populate future Tax Organisers for your convenience; communicate with you about your return status; calculate tax estimates in our calculators; comply with SARS and POPIA requirements; and improve our platform.

Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (hosted on Amazon Web Services). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard TLS/AES-256 encryption. Access is controlled through Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring you can only access your own data. Admin access is logged with employee codes for full audit trails.

Data Retention

As required by the Tax Administration Act, we retain all tax-related records for a minimum of 5 years from the date of submission. After this period, you may request deletion of your data. Documents and records relevant to an ongoing SARS audit or dispute will be retained until resolution.

Sharing of Information

We share your information with: SARS — for the purpose of filing your tax return; our registered tax practitioners — to prepare your return; and Supabase — as our infrastructure provider. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; object to processing of your information; and request deletion (subject to statutory retention periods). To exercise these rights, contact privacy@payanchor.co.za.

Cookies

We use session cookies for authentication and security. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
